Mental Health Day 2019
World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity to share knowledge and increase awareness by talking about mental health issues and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. Mental health and psychological well-being of children & adults is essential for the quality of life & productivity and most importantly it is vital to produce positive-minded, successful and good citizens. However, the opportunities for both children and adults in Sri Lanka to gain knowledge in the field of mental health and psychology is still very limited. Identifying this timely and essential requirement, CIIHE organized a Mental Health and a Psychology Awareness Exhibition themed “ A State of Mind” in observing the World Mental Health Day. The exhibition was held on 08th, 09th & 10th of October 2019. More than 30 stalls on different areas in mental health and psychology was displayed and explanations and demonstrations was done by the postgraduate and undergraduate students in Psychology.
