Modern marketing, advertising and branding practices heavily depend on psychology and marketing departments hire consults and trainers constantly for this purpose and spend millions to gain psychological insights from research companies.

The program- Diploma in Higher Education in Psychology (DHEP) is offered by Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology (CIRP) and is recognized by Coventry University. The program spans for 5 semesters and include a psychology placement module to enhance students applied psychology knowledge. Moreover, the modules are included into the curriculum to enhance the quality and standards of the students who wish to transfer to BSc (Hons) program as a continuation of further academic studies. The bridging modules are designed to equal the first year curriculum of any given Psychology BSc program adhering BPS guidelines.

Traditional Entry Criteria
Minimum 2 passes at GCE/ Edexcel/ CIE A/L
+ Passed 5 subjects at O/L including Maths & English
Alternative Entry Criteria
Passed CIRP International Foundation
Or Passed a Foundation program from a recognized institute
Or Recognition of Prior learning that is acceptable to academic board
A very good command of English Language in reading, writing and speaking is required to successfully complete this program.
Students whose medium of primary and secondary education is not English, should either obtain an IELTS Score of 6.00 or any other proof of proficiency of English Language acceptable to the academic board
All candidates are selected through an interview
How often would I have to attend classes?
Students in the weekday cohort have classes usually on 3 days of the week and about 3 -4 hours of lectures a day. Classes are conducted between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.
Weekend students have classes on Sundays, usually for about 6 hours from 8.30 a.m.
How is teaching done for this program?
Each module consists of around 15 sessions of direct teaching that covers the learning objectives and small group discussions and tutorials to support students.
How are the students assessed?
Students are assessed through a combination of a module based written examinations and coursework at the end of each semester.
How many modules are delivered in a semester?
Usually each semester is allocated 3 modules.
What learning materials and resources do I have access to?
All your lecture slides could be downloaded from the Student portal and a range of e books, journals, articles and research papers are available through CIRP Online resources. You could also refer or borrow books from CIRP library, which is open from 8.00 a.m. – 8.00 p.m. on all 7 days.
