In another initiative by CIRP to inspire psychology students in Sri Lanka to take up careers in mental health, a special lecture series on clinical psychology is delivered by Prof.David Winter, a globally respected psychologist specialized in psychotherapeutic practices.
These sessions are organized as a part of the annual professorial lecture series organized by CIRP. Sessions focus on different types of psychotherapy applied by clinical psychologists on common mental illnesses, discussing the fundamental differences between different branches of psychotherapy, their clinical applications and strengths and limitations. Professor winter, an expert in clinical psychology will share the knowledge he has gathered during his decades of clinical practice at National Health Services in UK with the goal of introducing key clinical psychological concepts to the students.

He has conducted many researches in to war related trauma and therapy, one of his world leading research includes his work with people affected by war in Sierra Leon.
CIRP students have the wonderful opportunity of being taught and guided by an academic of this caliber, a rare chance for students studying in Sri Lanka. Such opportunities provide CIRP students with international standards in teaching, a key aspect of transnational psychology education. CIRP creates these opportunities for its students as it believes that transnational education should not only limit to a certificate from UK, but the quality of education also should be in par with UK. CIRP students have had the luxury of being guided by half a dozen top psychology professors over the years, and it is the only campus in Sri Lanka to have foreign faculty teaching in the courses on a regular basis.

Professor Winter usually conducts lectures for senior students at CIRP, but this lecture series is also conducted for students at 1st and 2nd year of their degrees with the aim of creating an inspiration in clinical psychology from the beginning of their psychology education.
